Mishk

Privacy policy · last updated 2026-05-27

Your data stays on your phone.

Mishk is built privacy-first. The app doesn't have an account, doesn't send your prayer activity anywhere, and doesn't run analytics. Here is everything that happens with your data, in plain language.

Our promise. We don't collect, store, or sell your personal information. We don't show ads. We don't run third-party analytics. The AI features in Mishk run on your device — your questions never leave your phone.

What Mishk handles, and where it lives

DataWhere it livesHow to remove it
Your name (entered in onboarding) Your iPhone. Optionally synced to your private iCloud only — never to a Mishk server. Settings → reset, or uninstall the app.
Location for prayer times & Qibla Your iPhone. Never transmitted anywhere by Mishk. iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Mishk → Never.
Prayer log (which prayers you've recorded) Your iPhone + your private iCloud (if iCloud is enabled). Long-press an entry to delete, or uninstall the app.
Bookmarks & notes on Qur'an verses Your iPhone + your private iCloud (if iCloud is enabled). Delete individually in the app, or uninstall.
Questions you type into Verse Finder Your iPhone only. Processed locally by an on-device model. Not stored, not transmitted. Nothing to remove — the question is discarded after the search returns.
Period & cycle status (if enabled) Your iPhone only — never synced to iCloud, by design. Toggle off in Settings, or uninstall.
Subscription status Apple's StoreKit. Apple sees the transaction; Mishk sees only "premium yes/no" via Apple's API. Cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

What Mishk explicitly doesn't collect

Third-party services

Mishk uses exactly two external services, both Apple's:

Mishk uses no third-party analytics SDK (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, etc.). No advertising networks. No data brokers.

AI features

Mishk's Verse Finder uses an on-device model (Apple Core ML) to find verses semantically related to your question. Your question is tokenized, embedded into a vector, and compared against vectors for the 6,236 verses of the Qur'an — all on your iPhone's chip. Nothing is sent over the network. Future versions of Mishk may offer an opt-in cloud fallback for harder questions; that fallback will be off by default, clearly labelled, and your data will only leave your device if you explicitly enable it.

Children

Mishk is suitable for ages 4+ on the App Store. It does not collect any personally identifiable information from anyone, including children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of the page. Substantive changes that affect how data is handled will also be reflected in an in-app disclosure on the next launch after the update.
